Scope of the Workshop The 12th Direct Drive and Fast Ignition Workshop continues a series of meetings dedicated to the inertial confinement research in Europe. It provides a unique opportunity for European and overseas scientists working in theory, simulations and experiments related to the inertial confinement fusion for energy production to present and discuss their latest results and future plans in an informal atmosphere. The meeting also addresses prospective methods for producing electron and ion beams and strong shocks with parameters suitable for fast ignition as well as other alternate ignition methods like shock ignition. Novel experiments in the field are also presented by leading experimentalists. Benchmarking of simulation codes against experiments and the use of codes in the design and interpretation of experiments are extensively discussed. Representatives of leading laser user facilities will illustrate the facilities and opportunities for new experiments. Previous meetings in the series were held annually from 2003, in Paris, Rome, Toledo, Bordeaux, Madrid, Lisbon, Prague, London, Bruyères-le-Châtel, Prague and Rome in 2013. After a break of two years this meeting aims at restoring the annual sequence. Important dates
